Last night's First Friday in downtown Greensboro was so much fun. From the drum circle in Center City Park to the gallery openings to the employees at Scuppernong books who help you find just the book you were looking for- even if you didn't exactly know what you were looking for, there was something for everyone. A downtown first was an evening of wrestling, brought to us by FIRE STAR Pro and their training classes in Greensboro. The above match was between Springs (on the right), and JCB on the left. It was JCB's first ever match, after graduating from almost a year's worth of training. He hails from Alamance County and is still in high school. JCB is so hooked on the sport and was really excited to win his first match. His merch table looked great.
We had ringside seats and were lucky enough to sit beside Dynamite Jackson's girlfriend who was patient enough to give us some impromptu lessons on the sport. Her partner was in the 3rd match, and he won. They were both jubilant. The weekends of First Friday, the block between McGee and Washington Street, at South Elm, is open only for pedestrian traffic. Today, there are vendors set up on the space. Also, it is the 20th anniversary of Just Be and they have give aways and a special promotion. It is a fun day to explore!
Happy Saturday
