Tis the season of graduations in Guilford County Schools. It is a time of hope and new beginnings. The above photo features yesterday's graduation of students at the Middle College at UNCG. After several years in the SWARM facility of the Greensboro Coliseum, graduation returned to the auditorium at the corner of Spring Garden and Tate Streets. The graduating class and their families fit nicely in the auditorium and actually filled it. The change of venue made it easy for families, UNCG faculty and administrators, and non-graduating students to participate in the festivities.
Since 2016, the auditorium is referred to as the UNCG Auditorium. The sign above the entrance reads "North Carolina College for Women Auditorium." This was the original name when the auditorium was built in 1927. It is nice to see these historic buildings still put to good use. By Friday, June 13th, all high schools in Guilford County will have had their graduation ceremonies. If you have a graduating senior in your life, show them lots of love. They are about to navigate the world as young adults.
Happy Friday!
