We were glad to see the Collins Grove UMC van in the Holiday Parade on December 7th in downtown Greensboro. We have featured the church building before. It is located out near the Cardinal neighborhood at the corner of Fleming and Lewiston Roads (see HERE). Hopefully, the information is correct. Here is the article Jim Schlosser wrote in 2005 about the church and community, entitled, "Grave Times for Collins Grove? Residents Worry Development Is Chipping Away at Black Community." We sure do miss Jim's writing. He is such an intellectually curious journalist.
Other than Jim's article, we don't see much written about Collins Grove online. In looking at the lot (5210 Collins Grove Church Road), it looks like a very generous piece of land. Having driven by, we can vouch for the beauty of the property and the members in the van sure seemed nice.
