Happy almost-election-day. On Saturday, early voting officially ended. Tomorrow, the polls will open at 6:30 a.m. and everybody in line by 7:30 p.m. will be allowed to vote. Voting on Election Day must be done at your assigned voting place. The above signs were lining the path to the Bur-Mil Clubhouse, one of the early voting sites. Lines moved quickly. According to the North Carolina State Board of Elections, there are 397,185 registered voters in Guilford County (see HERE). Guilford is third, after Wake and Mecklenburg Counties (#1 & #2 respectively). They have over 800,000 registered and we're wondering which will be the first to reach a million voters. There are close to 8 million registered voters in the state. It will be interesting to see how many cast votes tomorrow. According to the NC State Board of Elections (see, HERE, Friday Nov. 1, 2024), more than half of North Carolina voters have already voted. This broke the record during the last presidential election.
Here's to a good, orderly, peaceful election in Guilford County and beyond.
Happy Monday!
As a new US citizen and a first time voter I received a nice shout out when I cast my vote at the Bur Mill Clubhouse during the early voting period. It was an exhilarating feeling!
