Providence Farm, located on Huffine Mill Road, is in the eastern end of Guilford County. It is a working farm that, on occasion, invites the public to come tour, see the animals, and learn about farm life. The above photo features one such event this past weekend. You also see the farmhouse, and in the distance, some vendors selling their arts and crafts. Ducklings, literally ducks in a row, are heading up the hill with a couple of children fascinated by their formation.
These ducks were added to the farm this summer at one of the camps held for children to get hands-on experience about farm life and regenerative agriculture. The ducks seem to like it here and have established their own routines. They are free-range ducks. It is kind of amazing the way animals stick around when they are well fed and cared for. Providence Farm will likely be at the Greensboro Farmers Market on Yanceyville this weekend. They sell meat, yarn, knitted items, goat milk soaps, and whatever happens to be ready to take to market. This is the 150th anniversary celebration of the farmers market. Sesquicentennials don't come around very often, so head to the farmers market and enjoy the festivities. Maybe it isn't 150 years, but we seem to recall that this farm has been in the hands of the same family for at least 100.
Happy Thursday, dear readers
