Last night was the Choice Showcase of the Guilford County Schools. It was held at the Greensboro Coliseum. People came out to see what special programs are offered through the public schools. If you missed the showcase last night, you can still attend open houses at the individual schools and participate in magnet tours (see HERE). The timeline is much earlier this year do that families can know earlier what options students will have for the upcoming school year.
The above photo features the booth of the Middle College at UNCG. Close to 20 students came out to help promote their school. Middle College students have a lot of pride in their school. Parents and rising 9th graders had great questions and the students were in a position to field questions. In addition to the students, the university liaison, school staff, teachers, and principal were on site to answer questions. Hopefully, everyone knows about the shift in timeline as those deadlines are non-negotiable. Students are always advised to tour schools and ask lots of questions. Usually, once on site, it becomes clear if there is a goodness of fit. This is especially true for the high school students.
Happy Thursday!
