ArtStock started in 1996 in Greensboro by a group of artists as a way bring artists together to sell their art and connect with the local community. Over the last 28 years, the group has grown to about 75 artists. The above photo features the preview event held last night at Revolution Mill. This gave the public an opportunity to get an idea of which artists they want to visit this weekend. The event was well attended and patrons and artists got to mingle. On Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm, artists will offer their artwork at many venues around Greensboro. See the map HERE. The Hopper Trolley will be taking patrons to the multi-artist studios and the pop-up galleries. Look for the Red balloons, an ArtStock tradition.
The current chair of ArtStock is Terrence Wessling. Terry, an artist himself, makes prints on handmade paper locally sourced from Paper Maker, Suzanne Baker. Suzanne is one of the featured ArtStock artists. However, between being a new grandfather and chair of ArtStock, Terry will not be showing his art this year. However, everything about last night's event exuded his energy and positive spirit. The weather should be nice and the artwork great. There is no fee to attend any of the pop ups and venues where art will be sold. We hope you get a chance to support some of our local artists.
Happy Friday!
