Yesterday was perfect weather for the Greensboro Pride Festival downtown, primarily on Elm Street. It is the main event for Alternative Resources of the Triad (ART). According to WFMY-2, the Greensboro Pride Festival started in 2006 with about 400 people. The goals of the event are to give members of the LGBTQ+ community a chance to socialize and have a space in public to come out and be surrounded by support from within the community and allies. Special services and resources are available as well as opportunities to purchase merchandise of interest.
Here was the schedule.from yesterday. If you missed it this year, you can start planning for next year. Also, for those who missed the event, there is an LGBTQ Center at the Guilford Green Foundation and there is a local Facebook group.
Happy Monday!
