Weekends are for meeting new people in Greensboro. Last Saturday, the Wyndham Golf Tournament was in full swing at Sedgefield Country Club. With all the rain, this was a challenging year for the tournament, but outdoor sports are like that. We met the two guys above at Hops Burger Bar on Spring Garden Street. They are great golf fans and had spent the day at the tournament. Garrett moved to Greensboro a few weeks ago from Hurricane, West Virginia. His high school buddy Connor came down to attend the Wyndham Tournament. Even for those who don't consume alcohol, sitting at the bar at Hops is the best place to engage in great conversation. These two guys, recent graduate school grads, were so knowledgeable about history, politics, finance, golf, and everything about West Virginia. We were able to tell them all about Greensboro and encourage them to read Greensboro Daily Photo.
Recently, Garrett discovered this local burger bar and thought it would be a great place to take an out of town guest. Both ordered the special-of-the-week burger. We recommended they always get it as Hops has had a different burger every week for ten years and you never know what you are going to get. Usually they are unique, creative, tasty combinations. We need to meet their burger "mixologist." After ten + years of being in business, that should make about 5,000 different burgers. We're wondering if they maintain a burger spreadsheet. If you see Garrett, please welcome him to Greensboro. You will get a good conversation with a smile. Hopefully, Connor will return for visits and we will run into them both.
Off to enjoy the people and places of Greensboro, even though the weather is overcast. Maybe we'll see you. Let's all make it a great Saturday!
