We hope you were spared damage from Tropical Storm Debby. Several trees and branches were down today, there were some power outages; and, as you can see from the above view of Buffalo Creek that the banks were overflowing. This is the view from North Elm Street, just north of Cone Hospital, near Irving Park. It was so bad that Latham Road was closed. Normally, the above creek has visible, rocky banks. It is not a river, but a creek. It looks like we had about 4" of rain yesterday (see HERE). The flood warning remained through the night. There is a 60% chance of rain today, but the good news that no rain is scheduled for the weekend. There is so much to do this weekend. There are three more weekends until traditional schools open in Greensboro. If you have children, we hope you enjoy every minute of these last couple of weeks with them. Eventbrite is one way to look at what is happening downtown (see HERE). A few events include: Music in the Park; The Rocket Man Show at Tanger; African American History Tour; Greensboro True Crime Tour; Downtown History Tour; Hopper's Game & Fireworks (seen on Greensboro College's Facebook Page). Whatever you decide to do, enjoy. We'll stop back soon to check on the level of this creek.
Happy Friday!
