The above photo features Union Memorial United Methodist Church located at 1012 East Gate City Boulevard at the corner of Bennett Street.. The church resembles a two-story apartment complex. The church lawn is expansive. The cornerstone dates the church to 1951, with W.E. Hairston listed as pastor. Timmothy Fitzgerald is the current pastor. The cornerstone above it says High Street M.E. Church, Organized December 2, 1902.
Union Memorial offers a free breakfast every 3rd Saturday, which will be next weekend at 8:30 am. If you are interested in the church, that would be a good time to attend.
