Today's photo features the Relaxed Riders Bike Group that left from Cycles de ORO on Hill Street last night. This was their rest stop at A.H. Peeler Recreation Center at 1300 Sykes Avenue. This was close to the half way point to the ride. It was a fun place for a water and bathroom break, as families were there signing their children up for summer camps. Neighbors were visiting with neighbors. Children were playing, jubilant about school being out for the summer. Peeler Recreation Center was named for Abraham H Peeler son of S.A. Peeler who was pastor of St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Warnersville. Mr. A.H Peeler was principal of J.C. Price School from 1932- 1969, inspiring generations of students.* Hopefully, the children at the rec center know the positive impact of the Peeler family on the Greensboro community.
As the bike group was leaving the Glendale Hills neighborhood, along Textile Drive and Sykes Avenue towards Bessemer, they saw many children in their front yards with bicycles. The children seemed curious about so many adults riding bicycles through their neighborhood. At the beginning of summer, children and adults alike are hopeful of the possibilities for summer fun.
The Relaxed Riders Bike Group arrived back at Cycles de ORO, a little before dark, shop owner Dale Brown was waiting with ice cream for the cyclists.
Happy Wednesday!
