This weekend, we were eating brunch at the bar at The Sage Mule at 608 Battleground Avenue, near Green Hill Cemetery when we spotted the above clock. Actually there was one of these clocks on each beam between the north bank of windows. The clocks were made by woodcarver David M. Hinshaw. They are called Look Twice Clocks because the hour hand it on the top and the minute hand is on the bottom. Can you tell what time it is?
The clock in the photo is made of spalted maple with walnut plugs. The plugs represent the hour. It is wonderful to eat at a local restaurant and see local art (available for sale) on the wall. Also, we love creativity of this woodworking project. We had never seen one before. Analog clocks are going the way of cursive writing; so it takes a special person to add yet another step to reading analog time: Split hands. If you didn't figure it out, the current time on the above clock is 9:27.
Happy Monday!
