We love this view on Greene Street and have published a similar one in years past. The front building is the Fire Department, City of Greensboro Central Station. It was built by architect Charles C. Hartmann from 1925- 1926. In 1980, this Renaissance Revival building is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It closed in 1980, replaced by a station at 1514 North Church Street. We love the way the Marriott Hotel looms large behind the fire station. The day we walked by, the red, white, and blue cars just happened to be parked in a row- adding yet another layer of visual interest.
Mariott will build a 12-story hotel on North Eugene Street. Here is a list of many projects on the books for downtown Greensboro. Have a great Thursday! Head downtown to see some of these projects in process and locations of what is here now that will soon be replaced.
