March is upon us and soon it will be spring. Also, on March 10th, Ramadan starts. The Islamic Center of Greensboro was established in 1984 and the local Muslim population has continued to grow since then. The majority of the residents who practice religion are Christians and only 3 cities in the United States have more churches per capita than Greensboro.* Christians will be celebrating Easter at the end of the month. Passover will not be until April this year and Orthodox Easter will not be until May.
Many of the spring celebrations center around a rebirth of sorts. Flowers remind us of spring. Today's photo features some crocus plants in our yard. They remind us of the renewal of life that happens this time of year and that, before we know it, Greensboro will be abloom and leafing out. Many say that spring is the most beautiful time of year in Greensboro. Every season has its special moments. Today, we are featuring nature, as opposed to a house of worship. Nature, in its own right is full of spirituality. There are five Sundays in March, so we'll be sure to find some new churches to feature!
Happy Sunday!
