Starmount Presbyterian Church is holding a Lenten Concert Series This is their 40th season of hosting these events during mid-day. It is called Bach's Lunch. The longstanding tradition of the Bach's lunch was established to celebrate the birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach. The concerts start at 12:15 and end shortly before 1:00 pm, with lunch immediately following. In previous years, they had five concerts in one week. This year, they have changed the format to having one concert every Wednesday during Lent (March 13, 20, and 27 remain).
This past Wednesday's convert was Baajah Mohammed singing songs ranging from Debussy to gospel to Disney. Ms. Mohammed grew up in Guilford County and attended high school at Penn Griffin School of the Arts in High Point. She earned an undergraduate degree from ECU and completed her Master's degree at Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins. She was accompanied by James Douglass, a UNCG professor of collaborative piano. The concert was superb. After the concert, Starmount invites you to stay for a boxed lunch It is free. Of course donations for the concert and the lunch help keep the program funded, but there is no expectation to pay. The church is conveniently located at 3501 West Market Street with parking and entrance around the back of the church.
Happy Sunday! We've sprung ahead an hour, and for our Muslim friends, Happy Ramadan.
Quite a setting.
