The above photo features the drum major and the Northeast High School marching band at the Veterans Day Parade this past Saturday. The band sounded great and put on quite a performance dancing and marching. Veterans and other parade attendees seemed to really enjoyed their performance. They were appreciated by parade goers. According to their website, the director of bands is Ms. Tyrissa Swilley.
If you missed the Veterans Day Parade, your next big opportunity in Greensboro will be the Winter Holiday/Christmas Parade on December 2nd from 12 noon-2:00 pm. This parade has been a Greensboro tradition for almost 40 years. In addition to bands and floats, there will be some big balloons. The night before, on Friday, December 1st, the Festival of Lights will be held downtown. This is another big Greensboro tradition and time for making memories with family and friends. At the First Friday festival, performances start in Center City Park at 5:30 pm and the lighting of the tree happens promptly at 6:56 pm and the evening concludes at 9:00 pm. So, mark your calendars now, as this time of year starts getting really busy. In the meantime...
Happy Monday, a week and a half until Thanksgiving!
