We happened to be in the neighborhood around Golden Gate Shopping Center recently and had the chance to stop into Carriage House Antiques. The plaza is conveniently located between the Irving Park neighborhood and Revolution Mill. Golden Gate opened in 1961, four years after Friendly Center, and has seen many changes over the years. Carriage House Antiques has been a go-to place in that part of town for high-end antiques and original works of art. It is clean, well organized, with a helpful staff. The merchandise changes frequently and it is fun to go in and see what is new. They also have a little bit of jewelry and a lot of small decorative objects.
The potted geraniums at the door make such a bright and cheerful welcome. They look so healthy and are still blooming in October. You can tell by the conversations happening in the store, it is the kind of place where people get to know each other quickly, as well as check in on each other. Lampshades plus, formerly known as Hyalin Lamps (featured here in 2020) is located inside. So, if you need a lampshade, with expertise in picking it out, this is a great place!
It is the weekend! May it be filled with good food and fellowship, whether you are in Greensboro or elsewhere. Happy Friday!
I like the look of the place.
