Today's feature is Joy and Darrell of Providence Farm. They're at the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market on Yanceyville Street today and every Saturday. They bring products fresh from the farm and are known for their fresh chicken and pork. The chickens are free range and the pigs roam around the woods, foraging to their hearts content. We especially love their whole chickens. Once you have eaten one of their chickens, you'll have trouble going back to grocery store products.
As you can see from the above display, Joy also sells her yarn. The yarn comes from the sheep they raise, with the name of the sheep the yarn originated from on the packaging! They also have goat milk soap. You never quite know what else they will bring. For example, Joy knits hats with holes in the top so that you can pull through a ponytail- very practical for a farmer with long hair. From time to time, Joy and Darrell open their farm for special events or for their own farmers market. Located in the eastern end of the county, the farm has been in the Cobb family for over 200 years. Their farming practices are admirable. Stop by and say hello to this fabulous duo. When you shop local the farm to fork concept is easy to achieve.
Happy Saturday!
Quite a variety there.
