Greensboro is filled with the scent of magnolia blossoms. Oh how we wait patiently for the sweet essence of magnolia blossoms every year. With the cooler weather, they are blooming a little later at our house this year. In 2020, we featured one on May 22 and in 2019 on May 23. By October, they will be sporting the showy red seed pods. While the sweetbay magnolia- with its green deciduous foliage- is native to Greensboro, many people have planted the southern magnolia here. The above is a southern magnolia blossom. We always bring one inside for the day, knowing full well that they will only last for a day.
In addition to hanging out under the magnolia tree today, we will also be attending the Juried Members' Exhibition at the Center for Visual Artists at 200 N. Davie Street in the Cultural Arts Center from 6-8 pm. At least two artists we've featured on Greensboro Daily Photo will have art featured there, Karen Bjork Dischell and mixed media artist, Joanne Rich, will feature their work there. If we understood correctly, someone from the group currently exhibiting will be selected for a solo show this year. Try to get by the show and support our local artists. Also, find a magnolia tree to enjoy.
Happy Friday!
That is beautiful!
