Higher Ground Ministries is located at 107 West Whittington Street, just south of Gate City Boulevard and between Eugene and Elm Street. The one-story church was built in 1989 and the lot size is one and a half acres. It is located on the east end of the Warnersville neighborhood. Named for Pennsylvania Quaker Yardley Warner, Warnersville was recognized as Greensboro's first Heritage Community in 2015. It was the first planned African American community in the are. Mr. Warner took 35 acres of land and divided it into plots that were available to "freedmen."*.
If loop.net is correct, this Higher Ground property is currently for sale for $825,000 (see HERE). According to their website, "Higher Ground provides support and encouragement not only to those whose lives have been torn apart by addictive behaviors, but to those who are living with the effects of someone else’s addiction or any life controlling issue." Higher Ground has more than one location in Greensboro. Perhaps this location has relocated. At any rate, this is a prime piece of property located close to downtown. If a church is looking to expand, here is one that ready and waiting. As is, that roofline definitely says "church". It will be interesting to see what the site becomes.
Happy Sunday!
