Northern Roots is a coffee shop downtown near Scuppernong Books and on the same side of the street. This past weekend, they celebrated their one year birthday. While they are known for their coffee and tea drinks, they do have some sweet and savory croissants and bagels. People especially enjoy sitting in the cozy seating, especially at the windows. When we stopped by this weekend, they were 5 minutes from closing, so we grabbed a coffee to go and snapped this photo. The store is much busier early in the day. Coffee shops become our third spaces, a sort of home or business area. This is a "palate cleansing" coffee shop with the relaxing and neutral colors. Elm Street now has several coffee shops. It would be fun to start the day at Dolce Aroma at 233 North Elm Street, and work our way to Common Grounds at 631 South Elm Street, visiting everything in between How much caffeine would be that in all of the establishments in those 8 blocks?
Happy Tuesday!
An appealing interior.
