The Dunleath neighborhood in east Greensboro is very walkable. The above photo was taken this past Saturday when there was a Kentucky Derby party in the neighborhood as well as multiple yard sales. There were almost as many free items as items for sale. The weather was sunny, but crisp and it was a perfect day to walk around and meet neighbors. The above photo, at 719 Fifth Avenue was not having a sale, but they were getting a fresh paint job by "Absolute Quality Painting" and it was looking beautiful. This Dutch colonial house was built in 1910 and currently sits on 1/4 acre. It last sold in 2022 and the neighbors are quite likely getting ready for Porchfest. On Saturday, June 10th, Dunleath will have porches filled with musicians from 11 am- 6pm. As stated on their website, neighbors offer their porches and musicians offer their talents. Music sets last about 45 minutes and people stroll from porch to porch enjoying great music. Maps are printed to distribute to guests. Porchfest began in 2017 and has continued to grow every year. This is another example of a grassroots event that makes Greensboro such a special place to live.
Happy Wednesday!
