If you're at the Greensboro Farmers Market on Yanceyville Street today and you like all things felted, stop by and visit Gin. Originally from Kansas, Gin Wall studied horticulture and zoo agriculture, putting her knowledge of plants and animals to good use in her career at the North Carolina Zoo. The felted plants and animals reflect her knowledge of flora and fauna; Gin probably doesn't even have to look at anything for a reference. On the day we visited, Gin was working on a custom order of a giant felted pea pod filled with big felted peas. She learned crafting from her mother and has turned felting and crocheting into a full-time gig, now that she's retired from the zoo.
If you can't make it to the farmers market today, tomorrow is Curiosities of the Curb, an afternoon filled with artists who cater to people who like a little whimsy in their art. Also, there will be antiques and plenty of upcycled items at the event. We don't think Gin will be there though. Stop by today to visit her booth and soak in all of the many shade of green so prevalent in spring.
Happy Saturday!
A cheerful smile.
