The above photo features an old farmhouse off of Burlington Road, Highway 70, east of Greensboro, right at the Guilford County line. This home is so charming and reminds us of that country way of living, so common in the mid part of the 20th century and before. The white, wooden house was probably added on to as the owner's family grew- or became more prosperous. Likely, the owners were very tied to the land and loved everything that came from rural living. Possibly, the home has been passed down through the generations. We could sit here and conjecture all day; in the meantime, we'll just admire the view.
Every month or two, we drive the back roads from Greensboro to Burlington (Wendover, Highway 70) to the east, or Greensboro to Kernersville to the west (Highway 150). As we drive, we notice something has changed, stopping to photograph whatever catches our eye. Noticeably, Guilford County is becoming quite a place for storage, warehouses, and trucks. Looking back, sometimes we have documented things that used to be. For now, it doesn't look like the big, white farmhouse isn't going anywhere anytime soon. On a bright, sunny day, those bare trees look so beautiful and make the house look like a home. The trees all look healthy, ready to leaf out in a couple of months.
Happy Wednesday! Please stop and admire the beauty of Greensboro, every chance you get.
That's a beautiful house.
