Merry Christmas! This is the Nativity scene/creche at Greensboro College on West Market Street. Last week, we shared Mary and Joseph walking to Bethlehem. Today, we share the part of the scene where they are in Bethlehem and Christ is born.It is a fitting photo for Christmas and one that is fitting for Greensboro College, whose roots are in the United Methodist Church. The college was chartered in 1835 by the Methodist Church. Originally, it was Greensboro Female College, the first chartered for women in North Carolina and the the third in the United States (NCpedia, visited 23 Dec, 2022).
Today, Greensboro College seeks a diverse campus of people and welcomes students from all faith groups and even those who do not belong to a faith group. For those who celebrate, we wish you a Merry Christmas. Today is a doubly religious day, a Sunday and Christmas. We hope you are staying warm and that you are celebrating in a way that is just perfect for you.
Happy Sunday! Merry Christmas! Happy Winter!
Merry Christmas!
