The FLAT IRON at 221 Summit Avenue downtown Greensboro is located in a building that was constructed for A.W. Kaplan in 1922. It is located at the convergence of Summit Avenue and Lindsay Street. Originally, it was a four-unit apartment building. Charles Hartman was the architect. He had recently arrived in Greensboro from New York City, which explains the NYC vibe.* It was built 100 years after its NYC counterpart.** The FLAT IRON is known for creative shows and original music.
This photo was taken on Thursday night when the Tanger Center was filled with people waiting to hear Venus Williams speak. Also, the LeBauer Park food stations were going open. However, just a block away, the FLAT IRON was open, a little island of music and tradition. Dusty Keene refurbished and reopened what formerly had a reputation of being a "dive bar." Stop by, listen to some great music, and play a round of pool. It is part of downtown north Greensboro (NOGSOO) fun! We're wondering if that sporty red car was headed there!
Happy Saturday!

I love this. Reminds me of an Edward Hopper painting.
