This is what it looks like when a thunderstorm is about to roll in in northwest Greensboro, and there have been several this week. The greens range from chartreuse to dark forest green. Grays range from almost white to charcoal to onyx. The different textures of the grasses and shrubbery really stand out as the skies darken. Such was the view of the Farm Course of the Greensboro Country Club this past Tuesday. About the time we took this photo, the "clear the golf course" siren started blowing. Lightening had been seen and it was too dangerous to continue playing golf. Golfers retreated with their carts back to the clubhouse. As it turned out, the bulk of the storm bypassed this part of town. Thunderstorms are like that, they hit some areas and bypass others, usually lasting about an hour.
According to Weather Spark, July is the wettest month in Greensboro with an average of 13 days of precipitation. These hot, humid days with frequent thunderstorms are the prefect conditions for chasing rainbows. In August, on average, temperatures will drop a couple of degrees and it will rain slightly less. Regardless of whether the days are sunny or overcast, Greensboro is a beautiful place to live.
Happy Thursday!
Very dramatic.
