Happy first day of summer. With warmer weather, additional hours of light, and many students out of school, people will be cooking on outdoor grills and in their campers. Many of these outdoor activities require portable propane gas. After 12 years, tanks must be re-certified in order to get them refilled with with propane. The US Department of Transportation requires this recertification, since tanks are often on the highways. The above photo features a customer taking a 30 pound propane tank for recertification to Berico Fuels, Inc.
Berico, owned by the Berry family, has been a Greensboro institution since the 1920s. They got their start on West Lee Street, and then on Bragg Street, at first selling coal. Since 1950, they are located at 2200 East Bessemer Avenue. Berico's motto is "Always Dependable." Bessemer Avenue has long been a hub of businesses activity in Greensboro since before nearby Wendover Ave even existed. Interestingly, once you get your tank re-certified, Berico sends you to McKnight Hardware, also on East Bessemer since 1950, to get the propane.
Happy first day of summer. After today, the days start getting shorter.

Not something I perceive having to do myself.
