Last night, the threat of impending storms kept the downtown, First Friday crowds light. However, storm held off until about 9:00 pm and those who were out before then had a fabulous time. South Elm had a nice crowd at Artmongerz and Ambelside Gallery. Elm and Bain had an event. The above photo features one of the challenges of downtown. The trains roll through town fairly frequently. However, it is possible to go down and around and use the underpass if you are in a car or walking. The trains also add a charming element and are the reason Greensboro has the nickname "Gate City". We were the gateway east/west and north/south as trains passed through.
The above photo was at Hamburger Square at the point where the south 400 block changes over to the 500 block. You can see the Lincoln Financial Group building in the background. If you find the LFG building, you can always figure out where you are in the city. And, if you are stopped for a train, you know exactly where you are. The Smothers Building on the left (at 360 Elm Street) sure is looking pretty.
Happy Saturday! May it be everything you dreamed! If you get a chance take a stroll downtown!
Excellent! We need this as a reminder, often, that there is LIFE on the other side of the tracks. Go explore it people, there's lots to see and do, all along S. Elm Street.
