Today's photo features science fiction writer Orson Scott Card. Originally from Washington State, Mr. Card has lived in Greensboro for the past thirty years. He is the author of the novel series, Enger's Game. In the above photo, Mr. Card is featured with his hairdresser, Nancy, at The Glen Hampton House on State Street. We were driving down State Street and saw Mr. Card heading into the salon. We dashed in and asked if we could photograph him. He kindly agreed, but didn't want to be photographed alone. His hairdresser, Nancy, kindly agreed. You can tell by her big smile how nice she is (even though we caught her mid blink)! Same with Mr. Card, that smile revels a kind soul.
If you are looking for a good book to give for Christmas, consider something from the "Ender's Game" series. If you need your hair styled, call Nancy. We were grateful to run in to Mr. Card and grateful that he agreed to a photo-- even BEFORE getting a haircut. We love the books he has written. He has inspired so many teens to read (including our own children). To be sure, serendipity is the friend of Greensboro Daily Photo. It is merely by chance that we ran into Orson Scott Card.
Today is Friday! Head out and see what serendipitous something comes your way!
I didn't know he lives there.
