Yesterday morning, we were out driving around enjoying the beautiful fall morning when we noticed the well-defined condensation trails, or contrails. When the air is moist, these aircraft exhaust clouds can last for an extended period of time. In the above photo, taken on Hedrick Drive in the Carlson Dairy Road area, the contrails point to the exact location of Piedmont Triad International Airport, They are passing over Proehlific Park and are higher then they appear. Ice particles usually combine to form contrails at a cruising altitude.
Soon, all of this color will be gone, but for now, you should still be able to drive around and see great fall color on the leaves that are still hanging on. One friend said that soon, he will have neighbors again; meaning that when the leaves are gone, the neighbors' houses will be in plain view again. Finally, a lot of stores are starting to have their holiday open houses. If you are out and about this weekend, in addition to admiring the natural beauty of Greensboro, also stop in and buy something from local vendors- especially local artists.
Happy Saturday!
A lot of leaves here are already gone.
