Pumpkin season is upon us. Youth groups will be selling them all over town. Remember when pumpkins for fall and Halloween were mostly orange? Well, for several years now, it has been almost as easy to find an ornamental pumpkin as it is the more traditional, orange one. The above assortment was for sale at Sprouts on Battleground Avenue. Not only the grocery stores but the farmers markets and local farms will be selling them. This will be a good weekend to get one while the selection is still good, and, if you don't cut it, it will last through the end of October and longer.
If you want to plan ahead and go out for pumpkins this weekend, here is a list of pumpkin patches by county in North Carolina. Fall is also a time for corn maizes and spooky woods. If you want a super fun event less than an hour south of Greensboro, consider attending "Boo at the Zoo". The first one will be October 16th from 9:00 am- 4:00 pm. See here for details. If you love fall and want to plan a trip to the mountains to see fall colors, here is a map. If you like pumpkin spice flavor.... well, let's just say your options are limitless. From Dairy Queen's Pumpkin Pie Blizzard to all the the pumpkin spice possibliities at your local coffee shop, you will have no shortage of fall flavoring. We wonder just which companies use flavoring from Greensboro's very own Mother Murphy's. Happy Wednesday! Happy October! Happy Autumn!
Quite a mix.
