We never got around to featuring Michael D. Harville, on Greensboro Daily Photo, but we were fortunate to have known him during the time that he maintained a booth at Antique Marketplace. Mike passed away on Sunday after a lengthy illness and he will be missed dearly. Mike's booth was always full of mid-century modern furniture from Europe, vintage glass, and lots of artwork. He was way on the front end of the mid-century modern trend. He had exquisite, vintage Murano glass ashtrays that were works of art. Mike came by his sense of style and design honestly as his mother, Anna Marie Harville, had a shop in downtown Greensboro and then, years later in the early 2000s, his sister, Linda Bostick also had a shop downtown, named "Anne Marie", honoring their mother. Mike always spoke fondly of Linda and, we suspect, the lovely Murano glass sold through her shop might have been Mike's.
While we didn't know Mike well, we did know him well enough to miss him already, and realize now we had many friends in common. We know these friends will be will miss him, dearly. The beauty of Greensboro Daily Photo is that we are always out meeting new people and today, we are keeping Mike's loved ones in our thoughts. Thank you, Antique Marketplace for letting us know of his passing...
A barber shop here paid tribute to the passing of its founder in much the same way.
