Happy first day of school to all of the students, teachers, and staff in the Guilford County Schools (GCS). GCS is the third largest school district in North Carolina. It is the 50th largest in the United States. There are 126 schools and about 70,000 students. With all of those busses, students, and school personnel on the road this morning and afternoon, we will all need to allow extra time to travel and be extra careful to drive 25 mph or under in the school zones. Also, remember to stop when the busses are picking up and dropping off students and the red arm is out. There aren't hybrid schools this year, students are either in person or participating in a virtual-only program.
The above photo was taken yesterday afternoon in the bus parking lot at Grimsley High School. It had just started raining, creating nice reflections and, hopefully, getting all of that rain out of those clouds for that first day of school. Also, last night was a full, blue moon. Let's hope that full moon is behind us and today will be a perfect day for everyone. This year, in GCS, masks are required. Here's to 100% compliance, making every effort to keep all safe and healthy. Have great school year.
Still past Labour Day here.
