Last night was pretty busy in downtown Greensboro. Thursday is the new Friday. The above photo shows the corner of Washington and South Elm Street about 9:00 pm as the evening was winding down. There was a guest speaker at Scuppernong Books, a classic movie (Spellbound) at the Carolina Theatre, Grasshopper baseball, and the Piedmont Old Society was jamming away at the Green Bean Coffee Shop. The Green Bean held evening hours mainly to host the music group, and any people who wandered in to get something to drink and listen to the music. Some people came from the Scuppernong event to the Green Bean. Earlier, before dark, people were out riding bicycles and scooters up and down Elm Street. When days are long and daylight continues into the evening, people take advantage of less traffic and make good use of the downtown roads and sidewalks. There was a high of 85 yesterday and a low of 62; the 23ยบ range hints that fall is on its way.
Even if Thursday is the new Friday, tonight is First Friday, which will bring people out. What will you do tonight? Whatever you decide, we hope you have a good time!
A good street shot.
