There has been so much roadwork in Greensboro this summer, but is does seem that it is all for the better. At the beginning of the summer, Josephine Boyd Street was being reduced by one lane at Walker Avenue in an effort to make it safer for pedestrians to cross the street- used heavily by UNCG students. On up Battleground, at Westridge, that heavily congested intersection is getting improvements (read here). Battleground/Westridge is the intersection where Ollie's Ice Cream is located. Hopefully, the hot weather and proximity to Guilford Courthouse National Military Park has helped with ice cream sales. A few blocks north on Battleground at the Urban Loop, that construction has finished and this bypass extends to North Elm Street, and continues to lengthen. The West Market Street/Guilford College Road area is also getting great improvements.
The above photo provides you with a glimpse of what you may find on any given day on Horse Pen Creek Road. To be sure, drivers have to be patient. There are so many apartment complexes being built on Horse Pen Creek, limited access roads with lights will be a must. Driving slowly is a must as navigating the barrels can be a little bit challenging. The City of Greensboro makes every effort to help keep drivers informed. See here, if you want to try to keep up with work that is being done, plus expected completion dates.
I'm not overly aware of road construction here, but I'm not a driver.
