Today, we see the steeple and façade of Grace United Methodist Church and its white steeple peeking out from behind a house on West Friendly Avenue It is just a stone's throw from NewBridge Bank Park (affectionately called Grasshopper Stadium). According to their website, Grace was chartered in 1891, making it 130 years old this year. Grace Church works a lot with the refugee and immigrant community. They also value participation of the congregants in decision-making in the church. Grace UMC is an active church. In addition to sermons, they do a lot to help build community, including missions, a fundraiser parking cars for the baseball games, blood drives, and more. If you like yard work, they would love to have you join the lawn care team. If you are looking for a church, Grace would be a good option.
As evidenced in the photo above, steeples make a church stand out from surrounding buildings. The steeple on Grace Church extends the height of the building by about 3 stories. The clouds and the beautiful blue sky extend the view into the heavens. If you have a house of worship in Greensboro that we haven't yet featured, please let us know and we'll try to stop by! Happy Sunday, dear readers.
It's a beauty.
