Country churches always look beautiful, even on overcast, rainy days. Hopewell Wesleyan Church was built over 100 years ago, but members have kept up the property. As seen in the photo, the azaleas in the foreground are a little past prime, but the ones at the entrance to the church are in their full glory.
As of 2917, there were about 1,600 Wesleyan churches in the United States and their are Wesleyan churches in about 100 nations.* The early Wesleyan churches were known for being advocates of abolitionism and women's rights. Hopewell is located at 2825 Pleasant Ridge Road. They have a Facebook page if you are considering attending. Services are at 11 am and it looks like they may have resumed services in person. If you look at the Facebook page, you can see that the interior is brightly painted. If you go in person, take time to walk through the cemetery. There are some very old graves... a lot of history on that property. Happy Sunday.
* To help get a scope on the size of the Wesleyan church community in the United States, compare its 1,600+ churches in the USA to over 20,000 Catholic Church buildings in this country.
There is only one of that denomination here.
