Yesterday on Earth Day, we visited Brooke Neal, a retired psychological associate who worked with families of people with cognitive disabilities, people with autism, and people with mental health challenges. Brooke is originally from West Texas, but a series of adventures and relationships led her to Greensboro. While her professional employment was related to health and well being, her lifelong passion has been art. She remembers drawing a fish at age two, found that experience very satisfying, and was instantly hooked on the visual arts.
In the background, you see one of Brooke’s paintings, Gaia, a Greek deity and the personification of the earth. Brooke’s paintings have so much complexity and depth. The more you study them, the more you see. Brooke is a member for the 50+ Artists Community. So now that members are vaccinated, they are hoping to have a show soon. We’ll let you know. Notice how Brooke’s shirt matches the Mother Earth painting!
A wonderful painting and portrait.

I love that we can see your reflection in the small mirror.
