Elm Street is showing a little more life as part of South Elm has been closing to allow people to have more room to eat outside and mill along the street. This photo was taken in the 300 block of South Elm last Saturday night. If you look in the middle, you can see the two police cars monitoring traffic at Washington Street. Pedestrians appeared to be honoring the 6' distance and wearing masks. The people in front of Cheesecakes by Alex were eating and drinking coffee, socially distanced.
In the background you can see, the Lincoln Financial Corp. building, formerly Jefferson Pilot, and Jefferson Standard before that. The skyscraper in front was built in 1923. The addition, with the time and temperature at the top, was built in 1990, during the Jefferson Pilot years. That building anchors a photo in Greensboro. This sam arrangement will be in place on the weekends through September 5th. Greensboro is so beautiful, especially when the trees are green.
A terrific view!
