At least once a year, we like to post a photo of Canada geese; they command such a presence in Greensboro. The above photo features a gaggle of Canada geese. They live at Home Depot at Brassfield. There is almost always a puddle of water in the corner near the drain by the lawn and garden section. Even when it hasn't rained, the birds can usually find water there.
Two of the populations in the Piedmont area of North Carolina migrate back to Canada in the fall. One group stays here year round. The year round population is growing and the migratory groups are decreasing. Canada geese mate for life, and they don't usually mate in the first few years. In 2015, the population reacted almost 6 million in the United States. If you are interested in their habits and habitat, read more, here.
Our local ones will be migrating in the coming weeks.
