The above preacher seems to make an annual appearance to the folk festivals in Greensboro. We featured him, here, last yearl, where he was wearing the same hat and pants. Again, he was on Davie Street, between Center City Park and LeBauer Park at the North Carolina Folk Festival. Whereas last year, he was preaching without much of an audience, this year, a group of teenagers were engaging him in a dialog, covering just about all the "hot button" topics. A couple of men, who were riding by on their bikes, stopped to watch the teens . They commented on how respectful the students were. Some were even raising their hands to ask questions. They were challenging some of the beliefs of the preacher, but the conversation remained civil. Impressed with the arguments that the teens were constructing and their civility, the men commented, "I think the future will be in very good hands with these kids."
Above and beyond all of the fabulous music being performed at the Folk Festival, it is heartwarming to see crowds of people gathering, interacting with people of other demographics, and everyone getting along. If you are a prayerful person, pray that the North Carolina Folk Festival will continue to attract people from all walks of life who know how to interact with each other. Happy Sunday!
Good shot.
