Bail bonding is a difficult business. Securing money to get out of jail until it is time to appear for trial is easier for some than others. The bail bondsman steps in to guarantee payment to the court and charging a fee to the accused. The above photo of a bail bonding business in downtown Greensboro is very close to the city jail and the courts.
Something about the photo is haunting and more reminiscent of a lonely town out west than Greensboro. The moon above and the red neon reflecting off of a single car make the scene even lonelier. The neon stays on all night with a phone number to call 24/7. The bail bondsman is a person nobody thinks about unless a time comes when you need his service. It must be a challenging, bittersweet job. On the one hand, you are helping people; on the other, the clients are in a very situation. Have you ever noticed this business off Eugene Street?
It does look a little bleak Janis.. not a nice job but someone has to do it I guess ✨

It's not done here, though there are bail conditions in criminal cases. Bounty hunting is particularly frowned upon.
