Bald Eagle Trail is located at Lake Higgins. The first leg of the trail, from the Lake Higgins Marina on Hamburg Mill Road to Carlson Dairy Road, is about a mile. It continues along Lewiston and Fleming, totaling about four miles. The trail is very natural and fairly flat. It is maintained by the Piedmont Fat Tire Society. When the ground is dry, bicycles are allowed on the trail. The trail is not very busy and is a great place to enjoy nature.
The above photo features someone walking on a part of the trail where water tends to collect and flow after a rain. As you can see in the photo, wooden walkways have been added to keep the trail safer for pedestrians, canines, and cyclists. The trails, like Bald Eagle, really make being outdoors enjoyable in Greensboro.
A good trail to follow.
