The UNCG women's basketball team played in Fleming Gym yesterday to a packed crowd. Guilford County Schools sent busloads of students from Claxton, Lindley Park, MCUNCG, and a few other schools. The students loved being there and cheered the Lady Spartans to victory. The public school students also enjoyed seeing their teachers compete in games during halftime. The final score was Young Harris College 29 and UNCG 62. So far, this Division 1 team is 2-2, undefeated at home. The women's basketball team was founded in 1969, four years after the institution began admitting men to the general student body.
If you are interested in seeing a game, their next home game is at 2:00 pm on Sunday against UNC Pembroke. If you are not doing a post-Thanksgiving drive, a good game of basketball would be a great way to bring closure to what, hopefully, has been a good Thanksgiving holiday weekend for all.
It's a fast paced game. My university men and women's basketball teams are both very good.
