What a difference a day makes. For a week, the skies over Greensboro have been overcast. Yesterday afternoon, the weather broke and the sun reappeared. As seen in today's photo of Lake Higgins, the air looked so clean. Even though the lake was still muddy, it was calm enough to reflect the beautiful blue sky. Lake Higgins is closed for water sports on Monday, but it was open for admiring, walking around, exploring trails and just gracing us with natural beauty. Greensboro does not have a river, but our lakes sure do bring the community a lot of pleasure.
Water is a most precious, life-sustaining resource; keeping it clean and accessible to all should be every community's priority. Looking from this vantage point to the east, we can only hope that rivers have crested and life will soon return to normal, especially for our fellow North Carolinians down east. May these final four days of summer bring joy and warmth!
In the aftermath it looks calm and serene.
