This photo was taken a couple of years ago at the National Folk Festival, held in Greensboro for three years. However, it shows you the spirit of activities at the North Carolina Folk Festival that begins today. It will open and close with performances by Greensboro's own Rhiannon Giddens. The event can only happen because of the many volunteers who have been mobilized to ensure that performers, festival attendees, and vendors have the best experience possible.
Volunteers will work tirelessly to see that musicians get from Point A to Point B. They will also document all of the songs that each performer sings. They will help people find stages and acts. Today is First Friday and Greensboro is about to experience three days of non-stop singing and dancing. All free and open to the public. Let the show(s) begin!
Quite energetic!
