Last night, downtown Greensboro was hopping. Gillian Welch and David Rawlings played at the Carolina Theatre to a appreciative, music-savvy crowd. The duo, with their superb guitar playing and tight harmonies, played for over two hours and gave the audience two generous encores. They are off to Wilmington to play tonight to a sold-out crowd.
The Carolina Theatre, built in 1927, is about to undergo an extensive renovation. As seen on the above marquee, close to two million dollars has been raised. While the theatre is beautiful inside, with extensive decorative gilding, it will get much-needed new seats and expanded restrooms. Also downtown last night, restaurants and clubs were filled as Aggie Fest is upon us. It is so nice to see how many people were downtown having fun. Meanwhile, for many, the school and work weeks continue. Happy Thursday!
A welcoming marquee!
