Greensboro residents love to exercise outdoors. The city is getting more trails, parks, and outdoor areas conducive to working out. In the above photo, four runners were waiting for the light to change at the corner of Battleground Avenue and Pisgah Church Road. The next major block away, on Lawndale Drive, Fleet Feet Sports is waiting to not only fit people with running shoes, but also to help them find a running group at their current fitness level. Other places that specialize in running shoes also sponsor runs and help runners find a group. Something about exercising with others, regardless of sport or workout, helps with motivation, building stamina, safety, and sustained participation in the sport.
The above group was diligently following rules of the road and being as safe as possible. Drivers must be even more diligent in watching out for runners and cyclists on the city roads. With the Internet, it has never been easier to find a meet-up group for any exercise and fitness level for you!
Traffic patterns in northwest Greensboro are far too dangerous for safe running and biking.....not to mention that drivers do not obey any speed limits.....

Oh it's the same here Janis. When I'm walking along our coast road cyclists and runners whizz past me all the time.. I'm happy with the walking 😀

We have shops here that cater to and organize running groups, even in winter. I'm accustomed to seeing groups of runners together when I'm near them.

What I have found is that "real" runners don't feel right unless they have a chance to run every day. It's not so much the exercise, although that's important, but I think it's more the need to feel "the wind beneath their wings."
